Bookkeeper – Hybrid Role in East Grinstead

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join a reputable chartered accountancy practice in East Grinstead. The role is full‑time, Monday‑Friday, with a hybrid model allowing four days of remote work after a three‑month probation. You will work with a varied client base and help ensure accurate financial records.

Key responsibilities

• Process payments, invoices, income and receipts and record them in Xero.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns.
• Identify and record inconsistencies to support accountants in reconciling accounts.
• Provide occasional assistance to client managers when preparing yearly accounts.

Required profile

• Minimum three years’ experience as a Bookkeeper within an accountancy practice.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational abilities.
• Residence within reasonable commuting distance of East Grinstead.
• AAT qualification is advantageous but not mandatory.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Xero accounting software (training provided if needed).
• Familiarity with Sage and CCH is a plus.
• Knowledge of VAT processing and bookkeeping principles.

• Salary between £30,000 and £35,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
