Bookkeeper (Sole-charge)

About the role

We are seeking a sole‑charge Bookkeeper to join our fast‑growing services business in Guildford. The role is hands‑on, supporting the finance function across month‑end processes and providing accurate financial information to senior management.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate bookkeeping records using Sage and Xero
• Process and reconcile financial transactions
• Complete bank reconciliations
• Support month‑end processes, including journals, accruals and pre‑payments
• Assist with monthly trial balances and management reporting
• Produce reports and supply information for senior management
• Investigate discrepancies and resolve queries
• Provide day‑to‑day finance support to the finance team

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar finance role
• Good understanding of double‑entry bookkeeping
• Experience using Sage and/or Xero
• Strong Excel skills and confidence working with reports
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines
• Experience in a business services environment is advantageous but not essential
