Branch Manager – Builders Merchant (Curry Rivel)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Branch Manager to lead a small, under‑performing branch of a leading builders merchant. You will be hands‑on in driving sales and overseeing day‑to‑day operations, ensuring the branch meets its commercial targets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the branch team by example, actively generating new business and supporting existing customers.
• Manage all operational aspects of the branch, including stock control, merchandising and health & safety compliance.
• Analyse sales data, set targets and implement strategies to improve performance.
• Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and understand pricing structures within the market.
• Report financial results and progress to regional management.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a branch management role within a builders merchant or similar construction‑materials environment.
• Demonstrated ability to turn around under‑performing sites and achieve sales growth.
• Strong commercial acumen and understanding of the building‑supplies market.
• Leadership skills with a focus on coaching and motivating staff.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of builders‑merchant product ranges and pricing structures.
• Experience with branch‑level financial reporting and stock management.
