Brokerage Officer – 12‑Month Fixed‑Term Role

About the role

Southend City Council is seeking a full‑time Brokerage Officer on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. The role sits within the Brokerage team and works closely with Contracts, Quality and Strategic Commissioning to connect people with the right care at the right time.

Key responsibilities

• Manage flow and capacity across health and social care pathways.
• Track vacancies, oversee block arrangements and monitor voids.
• Reconcile supported‑living data and produce performance dashboards.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external providers to prevent delays.
• Design and maintain brokerage data and reporting systems.

Required profile

• Degree‑level education or equivalent advanced experience.
• Experience working in a brokerage or commissioning environment within the local health and social care system.
• Proven ability to analyse, interpret and report on large datasets.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work on‑site at the Civic Centre at least two days a week, including Wednesdays.
