About the role
A primary school in Newham is seeking a dedicated BSL Teaching Assistant to provide one‑to‑one support for a Year 6 pupil with a hearing impairment. The role starts in September and is full‑time, offering a competitive daily rate.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver 1:1 support throughout the school day using British Sign Language.
- Adapt learning materials and reinforce lesson content to ensure curriculum access.
- Collaborate with the class teacher, SENDCo and external professionals.
- Promote the pupil’s independence, confidence and social participation.
Required profile
- Experience using British Sign Language in an educational setting.
- Previous experience supporting pupils with hearing impairments on a 1:1 basis.
- Passion for helping children overcome learning barriers.
