Builders Yard Operative – Fast‑paced Yard Team

About the role

Our client, a busy builders' merchant yard in St Albans, is seeking a hardworking Builders Yard Operative to join their fast‑paced team. The role is hands‑on, based outdoors, and involves supporting trade and retail customers throughout the day while maintaining a safe and organised working environment.

Key responsibilities

• Load and unload delivery vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Serve trade and retail customers in the yard, providing friendly assistance.
• Pick, pack and prepare customer orders for collection.
• Keep the yard clean, organised and safe at all times.
• Operate a forklift where qualified or experienced.
• Assist with general yard duties, stock replenishment and ad‑hoc tasks as required.

Required profile

• Valid forklift licence or proven experience operating a forklift.
• Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
• Ability to thrive in a busy, physically demanding environment.
• Good communication and customer‑service skills.
• Reliability and punctuality.
