Building Consultant - Subsidence

About the role

Sedgwick is recruiting Building Consultants for its Subsidence Services Division, based in London/Southeast England and open to candidates across the UK. You will manage a portfolio of domestic and commercial subsidence claims from notification to conclusion, working with other team members and service providers. The service is delivered either digitally for remote diagnosis and meetings, or on site face to face, and successful candidates are comfortable with both.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of domestic and commercial subsidence claims from notification to conclusion
• Diagnose, mitigate and repair subsidence issues, including drainage systems
• Communicate with team members and service providers
• Work remotely or on site depending on capacity requirements

Required profile

• A full UK driving licence, as you must be able to travel by car
• Working towards or holding a chartered building professional qualification such as MCIOB, MRICS or MICE, and ideally an insurance qualification such as CILA or CII
• Experience in insurance claims handling is a plus, though training is provided

Required skills

• Expertise in identifying and diagnosing structural defects and subsidence, and in applying effective repair techniques
• Understanding of prevention methods to stop ongoing damage
• Ability to make decisions, deliver excellent customer service and communicate empathetically
