Building Maintenance Surveyor – Social Housing

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Building Maintenance Surveyor to join an established social housing provider in Crawley. The role involves overseeing responsive repairs, planned maintenance and property inspections across a large housing portfolio, ensuring homes are safe, compliant and cost‑effective.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect residential properties and diagnose building defects.
• Prepare specifications, schedules of work and cost estimates.
• Manage responsive repairs, planned maintenance and void works.
• Supervise contractors, monitor quality, performance and compliance.
• Certify completed works and authorise contractor payments.
• Maintain accurate asset records and update property databases.
• Investigate disrepair claims and support complaint resolution.
• Liaise with residents, lease‑holders and internal teams to deliver excellent customer service.

Required profile

• Experience in building surveying, repairs and maintenance or property services, preferably within social housing, local authority or contractor environments.
• Strong technical knowledge of residential construction and relevant legislation.
• Ability to manage multiple projects while delivering high‑quality service.
• Qualification in Building Surveying or a related construction discipline (or equivalent experience) is advantageous.
• Full UK driving licence.
