Building Safety Technician

About the role
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Building Safety Technician to join the Building Control team at West Oxfordshire District Council. The role involves managing the administration of the new Building Safety Levy and supporting a range of Building Control services.
Key responsibilities
- Administer the Building Safety Levy – issue notices and invoices, monitor compliance and maintain accurate records.
- Respond to enquiries from applicants, agents, colleagues and the public.
- Process Building Regulations applications, calculate fees and keep statutory records up to date.
- Prepare performance data, reports and provide routine technical advice.
- Liaise with customers, carry out occasional site visits and support service improvement initiatives.
Required profile
- Minimum of five qualifications equivalent to NVQ Level 2 or GCSE Grade C/4, including Maths and English.
- Experience in an administrative role, preferably within a local authority or public sector setting.
- Strong organisational, time‑management and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace applications.
- Understanding of financial processes such as invoicing and payment tracking.
