Building Surveyor

About the role

The Hyde Group is seeking an experienced Building Surveyor to work across London and Kent, supporting social‑housing residents. You will manage cases from initial inspection through to the completion of remedial works, ensuring compliance and delivering high‑quality outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Produce detailed technical reports, schedules of works, specifications, measurements and costings.
• Carry out property inspections and surveys, guaranteeing that works meet quality and compliance standards.
• Monitor and supervise contractors to ensure safe, on‑time delivery to the required standard.
• Collaborate with residents, legal representatives, expert witnesses and internal teams to manage risk and resolve cases effectively.
• Identify learning and service‑improvement opportunities to prevent repeat issues.

Required profile

• Strong experience in surveying, specifying and supervising building works, especially roofing.
• Background in a surveying role within social housing.
• Excellent knowledge of building defects, diagnosis and remedial solutions.
• Clear communication skills for engaging residents, contractors and legal stakeholders.
• Proactive, organised and solutions‑focused approach.
• Full UK driving licence (essential).
• Relevant qualifications such as RICS membership.
