Building Surveyor – Social Housing (London & Kent)

About the role

As a Building Surveyor for The Hyde Group you will manage social‑housing cases from the initial inspection through to the completion of works. The role is mobile across London and Kent, requiring you to travel to properties, liaise with residents and coordinate with contractors and legal partners.

Key responsibilities

• Produce detailed technical reports, schedules of works, specifications, measurements and costings.
• Carry out property inspections and surveys, ensuring works meet quality and compliance standards.
• Monitor and supervise contractors to ensure works are delivered safely, on time and to the required standard.
• Work collaboratively with residents, legal representatives, expert witnesses and internal teams to manage risk and resolve cases effectively.
• Identify learning and service‑improvement opportunities to prevent repeat issues.

Required profile

• Experience in a surveying role within social housing.
• Strong knowledge of building defects, diagnosis and remedial solutions.
• Excellent communication skills with confidence to engage residents, contractors and legal stakeholders.
• Proactive, organised and solutions‑focused approach.
• Full UK driving licence (essential due to the mobile nature of the role).
• Relevant qualifications such as RICS membership.
