Business Analyst – Consultant

About the role

Opencast is seeking a Business Analyst Consultant to join its technology consultancy practice. You will work in multidisciplinary teams to solve complex problems for government, healthcare and private‑sector clients, translating stakeholder needs into clear, actionable requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with product managers, developers, researchers and designers to deliver user‑centred solutions.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with client stakeholders, understanding their business context.
• Ensure all deliverables meet Opencast’s quality, environmental and information‑security standards.
• Travel weekly to client sites in Newcastle, Leeds or Manchester for on‑site work.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Business Analyst in large, complex organisations.
• Ability to apply analysis techniques such as SWOT and 5 Whys to identify root causes and recommend solutions.
• Eligibility for UK Security Check (SC) clearance or willingness to undergo the process.
• Willingness to travel regularly to client locations as part of the normal working pattern.

Required skills

• Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) for process mapping.
• Wireframing and data analysis techniques.
• Experience defining epics, features, user stories, acceptance criteria and non‑functional requirements.
