Business Development Manager - Coatings

About the role

We are seeking a Business Development Manager to lead growth of our surface‑treatment (coatings) division in Stalybridge. Working closely with senior leadership, you will identify new commercial opportunities across aerospace, defence and engineering markets while nurturing existing customer relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and develop new business opportunities in aerospace, defence and engineering sectors.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers.
• Collaborate with senior management to support sales and marketing initiatives.
• Monitor market trends, customer requirements and competitor activity.
• Gather customer feedback and drive continuous improvement.
• Support new product introductions and customer‑led projects.
• Assist in preparing quotations and commercial proposals.
• Attend customer meetings and industry events to promote capabilities.
• Maintain accurate sales records and pipeline activity in CRM systems.
• Provide regular updates and reports to senior leadership.

Required profile

• Proven track record in business development, technical sales or account management within aerospace, engineering, manufacturing or defence.
• Strong customer relationship management and stakeholder engagement abilities.
• Understanding of surface‑treatment and coating processes.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and Bills of Materials.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
