Business Development Manager – Construction & Engineering

About the role

We are seeking a Business Development Manager to drive sustainable growth for a fast‑growing structural engineering firm operating across London, Kent and Essex. The role will focus on securing high‑value projects, building long‑term client partnerships and expanding market presence in the construction and engineering sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement annual business development and growth strategies.
• Identify new markets, sectors and revenue streams for structural engineering services.
• Create and execute business plans aligned with company objectives.
• Establish strategic partnerships with developers, contractors, architects, consultants and government agencies.
• Lead the business development team to achieve revenue and profitability targets.
• Monitor sales performance and take corrective actions as needed.
• Oversee key account acquisition and retention programmes.
• Identify, qualify and negotiate tender opportunities and commercial terms.
• Develop sales strategies for sectors such as commercial, residential, industrial, infrastructure, renewable energy and public sector projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, civil or structural engineering, construction management or a related field.
• MBA or equivalent business qualification preferred.
• Extensive experience in business development, sales or commercial management within engineering, construction or consulting sectors.
• Proven track record of managing high‑value client relationships and securing large projects.

• Salary between £45,000 and £65,000 per annum.
• Commission structure.
• Car allowance from day one and a company car after probation.
