Business Development Manager

About the role

This is a fast‑paced, field‑based Business Development Manager position within a leading food‑industry business. You will spend the majority of your time prospecting, winning new customers and building long‑term partnerships across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver sustainable sales and profit growth in line with agreed targets.
• Generate profitable new business through proactive prospecting, canvassing and account acquisition.
• Identify opportunities within existing accounts to maximise revenue and reduce order losses.
• Analyse territory sales data to uncover growth opportunities.
• Build and maintain a strong prospect pipeline and customer database.
• Collaborate with category specialists for coordinated customer development.
• Provide accurate reporting and market insights to line manager.
• Meet company KPIs for call activity, business growth and customer retention.

Required profile

• Motivated, results‑driven sales professional with a passion for winning new business.
• Proven track record of exceeding sales targets in a field sales or Business Development role.
• Strong new‑business development and prospecting abilities.
• Excellent relationship‑building and communication skills.
• Proactive, resilient and customer‑focused approach.
• Ability to manage a territory effectively and spot commercial opportunities.
• Full UK driving licence.

Required skills

What we offer

• £40,000 basic salary plus £6,000 car allowance.
• Uncapped OTE of £15,000–£18,000.
