Business Development Manager

About the role

Solarcentury Africa, part of BB Energy, is seeking a Business Development Manager to drive growth across the renewable and energy‑storage sector, primarily in Southern Africa but also on global projects. Based in the UK, you will report to the Head of Business Development and will be instrumental in shaping the company’s international expansion.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and pursue new business opportunities in solar PV and battery storage across Southern Africa.
• Prepare and deliver compelling presentations and proposals, coordinating internal teams and inputs.
• Analyse hybrid renewable scenarios with engineering teams and use financial models to determine cost‑effective solutions.
• Maintain a strong pipeline of projects, negotiate with clients, and ensure smooth transition from origination to implementation.
• Conduct market research on industry trends, regulatory changes, and pricing updates.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, sustainable development or related field (Master’s preferred).
• Proven track record of originating business and winning renewable‑energy proposals.
• General knowledge of the African energy landscape and regulatory frameworks.
• Passion for sustainable development and understanding of social and environmental impacts.
