Business Development Manager – Ocean Freight

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to drive new Ocean Freight business for a leading logistics provider. You will work flexibly, spending a few days each week in the Colchester office while also visiting customers and developing opportunities remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and win new Ocean Freight contracts across the UK and international markets.
• Build and maintain relationships with importers, exporters and logistics decision‑makers.
• Attend customer meetings, industry events and networking functions.
• Prepare accurate quotations and commercial proposals.
• Maintain a healthy sales pipeline and achieve revenue and gross‑profit targets.
• Collaborate with operations teams to ensure high‑quality service delivery.
• Spot opportunities to cross‑sell additional logistics solutions.

Required profile

• Proven sales experience in freight forwarding or logistics.
• Strong knowledge of Ocean Freight services.
• Track record of generating new business and meeting targets.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building abilities.
• Commercially driven, target‑focused mindset.
• Full UK driving licence.
