About the role
The Business Rates Officer will work within a local authority to determine liability for Business Rates and Bid Levy, ensuring timely issuance of notices and supporting customers and partners with professional advice.
Key responsibilities
- Identify the correct liable party for Business Rates and Bid Levy and issue required notices promptly.
- Verify eligibility for reliefs and exemptions and advise on them.
- Provide high‑quality professional advice, guidance and support to customers and external partners.
- Review reliefs and exemptions to maximise council revenue and reduce fraud.
- Assist in gathering evidence for Liability Order Hearings.
Required profile
- Proven experience working as a Business Rates Officer.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver professional advice and support.
- Experience within a local authority environment.
