Buyer – Contract to Permanent (Automotive)

About the role

This position offers an exciting opportunity to join a successful automotive manufacturer as a Buyer on a contract‑to‑permanent basis. You will be responsible for ensuring the on‑time delivery of parts and materials while achieving best value for the business.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret the company requirement plan and generate or amend order cover as needed.
• Progress purchase orders to facilitate on‑time delivery to customers.
• Analyse buying patterns, predict trends and manage stock levels.
• Assess and negotiate with suppliers, including site visits and audits.
• Maintain relationships with existing suppliers and resolve quality issues.
• Secure long‑term cost agreements with local, national and international suppliers.
• Review purchase and supply agreements for cost‑effectiveness and quality.
• Support the Supply Chain Manager in cost‑down programmes and process engineering change notes.
• Maintain accurate electronic and manual records and report vendor performance data.
• Act as SAP Super User for the purchasing function.

Required profile

• High level of accuracy and strong organisational abilities.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Good administrative capability and attention to detail.
