About the role

Jackson Hogg's Procurement division is seeking a Buyer to join a small procurement team serving sites in Rowlands Gill and Hexham. This is a six‑month temporary position working 37.5 hours per week, with a flexible start time of 8:00 am or 8:30 am and an early finish at 2:00 pm on Fridays.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the end‑to‑end procurement process from requisition to purchase order and supplier delivery.
• Coordinate purchasing across multiple sites to maintain supply continuity and optimal inventory.
• Obtain quotations, evaluate proposals and make purchasing recommendations.
• Monitor supplier performance on delivery, quality and service, escalating issues when needed.
• Support negotiations on price, lead times, payment terms and service agreements.
• Identify cost‑saving and value‑improvement opportunities.
• Analyse spend data and purchasing trends to aid business decisions.
• Collaborate with Operations, Finance, Sales and Warehouse teams on demand forecasting and inventory management.
• Maintain accurate procurement records, contracts and supplier documentation.
• Assist with procurement projects, process improvements and system enhancements.

Required profile

• Experience in a procurement or purchasing role, preferably within a multi‑site environment.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication skills for working with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving.
