Buyer – Procurement Specialist

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Buyer to join a leading manufacturer serving the construction, industrial and rail sectors. Based in Fareham, you will support the transition to a demand‑led procurement model and ensure that purchasing decisions align with forecasted demand and strategic growth plans.

Key responsibilities

• Source and purchase miscellaneous parts, raising and managing purchase orders through the MRP system.
• Monitor supplier performance on delivery, quality, cost and communication.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms and lead times; manage supplier onboarding and development.
• Identify cost‑saving and value‑engineering opportunities and support budget tracking.
• Maintain accurate ERP product lines, BOMs and component pricing.
• Conduct inventory checks, reconcile goods‑in documentation and generate regular inventory reports.
• Lead supplier consolidation and BOM rationalisation projects to reduce costs and inventory levels.

Required profile

• Proven experience in international buying and supplier relationship management.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to align purchasing decisions with demand forecasts.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
