Buying and Procurement Manager

About the role

Our client, a specialist contractor in hard‑metal roofing, cladding and façade systems, is seeking a Buying and Procurement Manager to lead the procurement function for both commercial and residential projects across the UK and internationally. You will manage a team of three buyers, ensuring cost‑effective purchasing, timely delivery and compliance with quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of three buyers, providing guidance and support.
• Procure roofing, cladding, plant, equipment and services to meet project requirements.
• Negotiate competitive pricing and commercial terms with suppliers.
• Coordinate procurement schedules with Project Managers, the Design Team and the Procurement Manager.
• Maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure a reliable supply chain.
• Manage long‑lead‑time items alongside urgent site demands to avoid delays.
• Monitor material costs, report price changes and keep accurate procurement records.
• Track purchase orders, resolve delivery issues and arrange returns of non‑conforming materials.
• Ensure all activities comply with ISO standards and company policies.

Required profile

• Proven experience in procurement or buying within the construction or related sectors.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a small procurement team.
• Strong negotiation skills and commercial acumen.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Familiarity with ISO quality standards and supply‑chain best practices.
