Buying Assistant – Commercial Department

About the role

Farmfoods is seeking a full‑time Buying Assistant to join its Commercial Department in Monkspath, Solihull. You will support the fast‑paced team by handling daily purchasing operations, supplier interactions and product line management.

Key responsibilities

• Place orders and produce forecasts for product ranges.
• Set up transfers between depots.
• Conduct competitor price comparisons.
• Introduce new product lines.
• Resolve supplier and logistics queries.

Required profile

• Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
• High standard of numeracy and literacy; ability to meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and willingness to learn an in‑house software package.
• Good academic record – at least a Grade B in GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent).
• Retail experience is advantageous and confidence dealing with senior management and external stakeholders.

What we offer

• Salary: £26,000 per year.
• Permanent contract – 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
