Buying Manager – Bought in Bakery

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Buying Manager to lead the Bought‑in Bakery category at Asda House. This fixed‑term maternity cover role will involve working closely with key suppliers and internal teams to drive sales, pricing and growth while managing the category P&L.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to develop and execute business plans.
• Negotiate pricing, terms and cost‑to‑serve programmes to deliver value for customers.
• Monitor market trends, competitor ranges and customer requirements to identify strategic opportunities.
• Manage the category’s profit and loss, ensuring targets are met.
• Track key commodities and implement strategies that align with customer needs.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a buying or category management role within retail or food.
• Strong awareness of customer requirements, market trends and competitor activity.
• Proven ability to identify strategic opportunities and innovative product ideas.
• Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to influence a diverse supplier base.
