Buying & Merchandising Assistant

About the role

We are looking for a Buying & Merchandising Assistant to support our Buying team from our Central Support Office in Lasswade. The role blends office‑based work with home‑based flexibility and involves close collaboration with stores, suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor the critical path to ensure buying objectives are met on time.
• Manage the sample library, coordinating delivery, return and sign‑off deadlines.
• Set up suppliers and product information accurately in internal systems.
• Liaise with suppliers to resolve purchase‑order, sample and delivery issues.
• Enter product data, short codes and attributes into back‑office systems.
• Create group purchase sheets and upload them to the intranet for store use.
• Generate Dobbies barcodes and resolve scanning queries from stores.
• Assist with promotion setup and seasonal catalogue preparation.
• Produce analytical reports as required.

Required profile

• High level of computer literacy with strong attention to detail.
• Excellent organisational, planning and prioritisation abilities.
• Proactive team player who can manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to build relationships across the business and embody company values.
