C# Software Manager – Metrology Products

About the role

We are seeking an experienced C# Software Manager to lead a talented engineering team developing cutting‑edge metrology products. Based in Abingdon, Oxford, you will combine hands‑on technical leadership with people management to shape software strategy and ensure reliable delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Lead sprint planning, estimation and tracking for the C# team, aligning delivery with customer release cycles.
• Coach and develop team members through 1:1s, appraisals and career‑growth initiatives.
• Collaborate with architects, LabVIEW, Data Analysis and Systems teams to manage cross‑functional dependencies.
• Engage stakeholders, communicate delivery status and support customer‑facing readiness decisions.
• Review code, enforce design patterns, MVVM architecture and C# .NET best practices.
• Contribute hands‑on when capacity allows and influence architectural decisions.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on C# software development experience.
• Proven people‑management or team‑leadership experience, including appraisals and recruitment.
• Strong knowledge of C# .NET architecture, design patterns, MVVM and threading models.
• Experience with UI development using WPF or equivalent technologies.
• Ability to own and communicate phased delivery plans, milestones and dependencies.
• Comfortable working in an Agile or lean, multi‑disciplinary sprint environment.
