CAD Planning Designer – Residential Projects

About the role

We are seeking an experienced AutoCAD Planning Designer to join our busy residential team in Reading. You will produce planning and presentation drawings for new‑build housing and apartment schemes, guiding projects from concept through to planning submission.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare planning and presentation drawings using AutoCAD.
• Develop site layouts, masterplans and residential floor plans for housing developments.
• Produce elevations and planning drawings for houses and apartment schemes.
• Revise and update drawings in response to planning, design and client feedback.
• Ensure all work complies with current Building Regulations and industry standards.
• Support the wider design team by providing technical drawing expertise throughout the planning process.
• Maintain accurate drawing records and version control.
• Manage multiple live projects while balancing competing priorities.

Required profile

• Proven experience creating AutoCAD drawings for UK residential housing developments.
• Strong knowledge of site layouts, floor plans and building elevations.
• Understanding of UK Building Regulations and planning requirements.
• Excellent attention to detail with a methodical approach.
• Ability to manage workload effectively and meet deadlines.
• Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
