Canteen Assistant – Plymouth

About the role

We are looking for a friendly Canteen Assistant to join the Co‑op team at its Plymouth depot. You will help keep the canteen running smoothly for around 140 colleagues, delivering hot and cold meals and ensuring a pleasant dining experience.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook hot and cold meals in line with hygiene standards.
• Stock and replenish vending items for all shifts.
• Maintain clean and tidy serving, kitchen and eating areas.
• Operate tills, serve staff and handle cash transactions confidently.
• Order food supplies and manage weekly kitchen inventory.
• Coordinate deliveries with the back‑office and ensure timely payment.
• Conduct periodic stock takes for vending items.

Required profile

• Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene certification.
• Previous experience working in a kitchen or food‑service environment.
• Strong food preparation and service abilities.
• Friendly, helpful attitude with good customer service.
