About the role
The Care After Death Assistant will join a newly created Care After Death Service operating across the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board. This permanent Band 3 role is designed for individuals who are passionate about supporting families after a patient’s death and who wish to contribute to a holistic, responsive service within NHS Wales. The post holder will work on‑site at health‑board locations, providing essential assistance to bereaved relatives and ensuring that after‑death processes are handled with dignity and efficiency.
Key responsibilities
- Provide an efficient, reliable, responsive and holistic care‑after‑death service across Aneurin Bevan University Health Board sites.
- Ensure bereaved relatives and carers receive the necessary documentation and personal items following a patient’s death.
- Assist with the collection and safe handling of personal belongings of deceased patients.
- Provide timely delivery of death certificates and related paperwork to families.
- Liaise with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate after‑death processes in a timely manner.
Required profile
- Passionate about supporting families after death.
- Keen to work as part of a newly established Care After Death Service.
- Ability to work on‑site within health‑board facilities.
