Care Assistant – Fixed-Term (Maternity Cover)

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate Care Assistant to provide fixed‑term maternity cover at Holmes House, a residential home in South Wigston, Leicester. The role is full‑time and involves supporting 78 residents with learning disabilities, sensory impairments and mental health needs.

Key responsibilities

• Assist residents with personal hygiene, dressing and daily routines.
• Support mealtimes, ensuring proper nutrition and hydration.
• Encourage safe mobilisation using mobility aids and specialist equipment.
• Provide companionship, accompany residents on outings and appointments.
• Maintain accurate records and complete required documentation.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to promote health and well‑being.
• Welcome visitors and respond to family enquiries.

Required profile

• Genuine caring nature with respect for individual abilities.
• Patience, understanding and good communication skills.
• Willingness to undergo a fully funded DBS check.
• Ability to work within a set shift pattern across a 7‑day week.
