Care Assistant

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate Care Assistant to support adults living with complex mental health conditions in a specialist 24‑hour nursing home. You will help residents maintain dignity, independence and wellbeing while following person‑centred care plans.

Key responsibilities

• Provide safe, consistent care to residents with conditions such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, acquired brain injuries and substance‑use histories.
• Support structured daily routines and promote a calm, stable environment.
• Build positive relationships, monitor behaviour and wellbeing, and respond appropriately to changes.
• Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to deliver person‑centred support.
• Ensure all care is delivered in line with health and safety standards.

Required profile

• A caring, compassionate and respectful attitude.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach.
• Willingness to learn and develop within a complex care setting.
• NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care or willingness to obtain it.
• Previous experience in care or mental health is beneficial but not essential.

Required skills

What we offer

• £12.71 per hour, contracted 40 hours per week.
• Shift patterns: 08:00‑15:00, 15:00‑21:00, 08:00‑21:00.
• Paid DBS check, pension scheme, uniform and onsite parking.
• 5.6 weeks annual leave (pro‑rata).
