Care Assistant – Residential & Dementia Care

About the role
As a Care Assistant at Porterbrook Care Home you will play a vital part in supporting the daily lives of 44 residents living with dementia and other care needs. You will work in a quiet suburb of Crosspool, delivering person‑centred care that promotes dignity, independence and wellbeing.
Key responsibilities
- Provide personal care, including washing, dressing and toileting.
- Assist with mobility, nutrition and medication reminders following care plans.
- Monitor residents’ condition, report changes and contribute to safe, responsive care.
- Support emotional wellbeing through conversation, activities and respectful interaction.
- Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to maintain a warm, positive environment.
Required profile
- A caring, compassionate and respectful attitude.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliable, positive outlook and willingness to learn.
- Availability to work alternate weekends.
- NVQ Level 2 (or willingness to work towards it) is desirable.
- Previous care experience is beneficial but not essential.
Required skills
What we offer
- £12.71 per hour, contracted 36 hours per week.
- Paid DBS check, pension scheme and uniform provision.
- 5.6 weeks annual leave (full‑time equivalent).
