Care / Support Worker

About the role

J & C Services Ltd is seeking a compassionate Care / Support Worker to provide high‑quality home care for individuals in Somerset. You will assist service users with personal care, daily living activities, emotional support and community engagement while ensuring a safe and dignified environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with personal care tasks such as bathing, grooming, dressing and toileting, always respecting dignity.
• Support mobility and daily living activities in line with each care plan.
• Administer oral and topical medication according to company policies.
• Carry out household duties including grocery shopping, laundry, cleaning and meal preparation to meet dietary requirements.
• Provide emotional companionship, active listening and encouragement to promote mental wellbeing.
• Organise and support recreational and social activities that enhance independence.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals, social workers, families and other agencies to deliver coordinated care.
• Accompany service users to appointments, outings and community activities when required.
• Maintain accurate records of care activities and observations.

Required profile

• Ability to deliver personal care with dignity and respect.
• Competence in administering oral and topical medication.
• Experience in supporting household tasks and preparing meals according to dietary needs.
• Strong emotional support skills, including active listening and companionship.
• Willingness to work collaboratively with healthcare teams, families and external agencies.
