Careers Advisor – SEN & PX Support

About the role

The Careers Advisor will work within a specialist SEN school in West Drayton, supporting pupils in a Pupil Referral (PX) provision. You will provide tailored career guidance, employability skills and post‑16 planning for young people facing barriers to education or work.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑to‑one careers advice and guidance to PX students.
• Assist pupils with CV writing, interview preparation and employability skill development.
• Run workshops on further education, apprenticeships and career pathways.
• Collaborate with local colleges, training providers and employers to create transition opportunities.
• Support students in planning transitions to post‑16 education or employment routes.
• Maintain accurate records and progression plans for each learner.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Careers Advisor, mentor or youth support worker.
• Experience working with SEN, SEMH or PX/PRU students is desirable.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building abilities.
• Patient, resilient and proactive approach.
• Passion for helping young people achieve positive destinations.

Required skills

• Knowledge of career guidance frameworks and employability best practices.
• Familiarity with CV preparation, interview techniques and apprenticeship routes.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff, SEN teams and external agencies.
