Carpenter – Multi‑Trade (Empty Homes)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced multi‑trade carpenter to join our Empty Homes Property Team in Southampton. The role involves travelling to a variety of properties, with a company van and fuel card provided, to carry out a wide range of carpentry and maintenance tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Perform 1st‑fix and 2nd‑fix carpentry across empty homes and other properties.
• Install windows, doors, and door frames (internal and external), including UPVC units.
• Carry out locksmithing duties such as lock snapping, drilling and picking to gain entry.
• Fit and repair all types of fencing – posts, feather‑edge, chain‑link and panels.
• Fit kitchens, build kitchen units and undertake minor joinery work.
• Undertake basic plumbing, plastering, tiling, decorating and general maintenance tasks as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a similar carpentry role, preferably within the residential/housing sector.
• Minimum NVQ Level 2 qualification or at least 5 years of carpentry experience.
• Strong health‑and‑safety awareness and ability to work safely on site.
• Full, current UK driving licence with at least one year of driving experience.
• Ability to work as part of a team and travel between sites.
