Catchment Technician – Wastewater Services

About the role

South West Water is looking for a Catchment Technician to join its Recovery & Treatment team in Bideford. You will support wastewater treatment and sewage pumping stations, helping to maintain compliance, improve asset reliability and contribute to environmental projects.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate pollution incidents and conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
• Provide reactive response to compliance hot‑spots and support incident recovery.
• Assist operational teams with technical advice to enhance efficiency and asset reliability.
• Develop detailed action plans, contingency measures and support H&S investigations.
• Contribute to the Smart Alarm project and perform field support for energy and water efficiency programmes.
• Handle technical enquiries, customer correspondence and ensure governance processes such as fire alarm testing and site inspections are completed.

Required profile

• 5 GCSEs (A‑C) including Maths, English and a Science subject, or equivalent ONC/City & Guilds or NVQ in Waste Water Process/Sewerage Control Level 2, or HNC/Water Diploma.
• Technical outlook with the ability to analyse varied data sources and present information for decision‑making.
• Proficiency in using computer systems for operational support.
