Catering Assistant – 10 hrs/week, Term Time

About the role

We are looking for a part‑time Catering Assistant to join our team at Newtown Primary School. Working 10 hours per week during school terms, you will help deliver safe, nutritious meals to children while upholding our high standards of hygiene and safeguarding.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with food preparation, cooking and serving meals to pupils.
• Maintain food handling and hygiene standards in line with regulations.
• Follow health and safety procedures throughout the kitchen and dining area.
• Receive, check and organise supplier deliveries.
• Carry out washing‑up duties and keep the kitchen and dining spaces clean.
• Represent HCL by demonstrating our values and commitment to child safety.

Required profile

• Commitment to safeguarding children and young people.
• Food Hygiene Level 2 certification (preferred).
• Basic understanding of health and safety practices.
• Knowledge of key allergens (preferred).
• Team‑player with reliable punctuality and strong customer service focus.
