Catering Assistant – Hospital Café

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Catering Assistant to join the Catering Production & Services Team at Ayrshire Central Hospital’s Bramble Café. The role involves supporting food preparation, service and cleaning for patients, staff, visitors and occasional functions.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and assembling meals and beverages in the café.
• Serve food and drinks to patients, staff and visitors, ensuring high standards of hygiene.
• Support the patient meal service when required.
• Carry out wash‑up and cleaning duties for kitchen equipment and service areas.
• Maintain stock levels and report any shortages to the supervisor.

Required profile

• Good communication skills and a friendly, customer‑focused attitude.
• Ability to work safely and collaboratively in a busy hospital environment.
• Willingness to complete mandatory and statutory training within the first three months.

Required skills

• Barista experience (training will be provided if needed).
• Food Hygiene knowledge or willingness to obtain a Food Hygiene Certificate within three months.
