Catering Assistant

About the role

Join the kitchen team at Pengover Residential and Nursing Home in Liskeard, supporting the preparation and service of nutritious, well‑presented meals for residents. This part‑time position offers a balanced schedule without late nights or split shifts, allowing you to focus on delivering a positive dining experience in a calm, well‑organised environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the catering team with basic food preparation and cooking tasks.
• Present and serve meals to residents, ensuring high standards of quality and presentation.
• Maintain strict food hygiene and safety standards at all times.
• Keep kitchen and dining areas clean, safe, and welcoming.
• Collaborate with colleagues to support residents’ daily experience.

Required profile

• A caring, enthusiastic attitude with a genuine interest in older people.
• Good teamwork skills and willingness to support colleagues.
• Clear communication and a flexible approach to work.

Required skills

• Understanding of safe food handling practices.
• Knowledge of food hygiene standards (or willingness to obtain a certificate).
