Catering Assistant – School Food Service

About the role

Join Sir Bernard Lovell Academy as a Catering Assistant, supporting the delivery of high‑quality meals for pupils and staff. This part‑time, term‑time position offers 20 hours per week plus four inset days, working within a friendly, inclusive school community.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch and snacks in line with the school’s menu.
• Maintain strict food hygiene, safety and presentation standards.
• Follow daily instructions and service plans efficiently in a busy environment.
• Assist with stock control, cleaning and equipment maintenance.
• Collaborate with the catering team and school staff to ensure smooth operations.

Required profile

• Enthusiastic, energetic and proud of their work.
• Friendly, polite and enjoys interacting with children.
• Reliable, well‑organised and able to work as part of a team.
• Flexible, positive attitude and able to follow instructions.
• Willing to hold or work towards a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate.

Required skills

• Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
