Catering Assistant – School Kitchen (Part‑time)

About the role

We are looking for a part‑time Catering Assistant to join our team at Thomas Alleyne Secondary School in Stevenage. Working 16.25 hours per week during term time, you will help deliver safe, nutritious meals to pupils while supporting HCL’s commitment to safeguarding and high‑quality food service.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with food preparation, cooking and serving meals to children.
• Maintain food handling and hygiene standards in line with HCL policies.
• Follow health and safety regulations throughout the kitchen and dining areas.
• Receive, check and organise deliveries from suppliers.
• Carry out washing‑up duties and keep the kitchen and dining environment clean and hygienic.
• Represent HCL by upholding its values and safeguarding standards.

Required profile

• Commitment to safeguarding children and young people.
• Food hygiene level 2 certification (preferred).
• Basic understanding of health and safety procedures.
• Knowledge of key allergens (preferred).
• Reliable, punctual and a team‑player.
