Charge Nurse – Ward 7, Borders General Hospital

About the role

We are looking for a motivated and adaptable Charge Nurse to join Ward 7 at Borders General Hospital. The ward provides acute surgical care across General Surgery, Gynaecology and Urology and operates 24 hours a day.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise registered and unregistered staff, as well as student nurses, ensuring safe and effective care delivery.
• Assess patient needs and coordinate high‑quality, person‑centred care plans.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to organise complex discharges.
• Make confident clinical decisions without direct supervision.
• Work flexible day and night shifts to support the 24/7 service.

Required profile

• Full UK NMC registration.
• Registered Nurse with experience in acute surgical settings.
• Ability to work independently and lead a team.
• Flexibility to cover both day and night shifts.
