Chartered Building Surveyor

About the role

The firm is an independent London consultancy seeking a Chartered Building Surveyor to take ownership of client projects across commercial, education, residential and heritage sectors. You will work within a collaborative practice that values professional judgement and offers direct access to senior leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Lead refurbishment and alteration projects as Contract Administrator and Project Manager.
• Prepare specifications, tender documents and full contract documentation.
• Conduct pre‑acquisition and condition surveys for a variety of property types.
• Manage dilapidations and party‑wall instructions, providing advice and negotiating outcomes.
• Diagnose defects and recommend remedial works.
• Develop and maintain client relationships to generate repeat business.
• Review junior surveyors’ work and support APC development.
• Contribute to fee proposals and team planning activities.

Required profile

• MRICS qualified or close to achieving MRICS.
• Degree in Building Surveying.
• Consultancy experience covering both project delivery and professional services.
• Strong knowledge of JCT contracts.
• Experience in commercial property or public‑sector projects.
• Proven ability to lead client and consultant teams.
• Interest in mentoring staff and developing business.
