Chartered Residential Surveyor

About the role

PLACR Recruitment is hiring on behalf of an established independent surveying practice for an experienced Chartered Residential Surveyor. The role offers genuine autonomy, strong earning potential and the chance to work across residential surveying, defect diagnosis, project delivery and party‑wall matters.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake RICS Level 2 and Level 3 Home Surveys on residential properties.
• Inspect houses and flats to identify defects, risks and maintenance issues.
• Produce clear, client‑friendly reports supported by an administration team.
• Diagnose building defects such as damp, structural movement, roof and timber issues and recommend remedial works.
• Project‑manage residential refurbishment, alteration and extension projects, preparing specifications and schedules.
• Act as Contract Administrator, conduct site inspections and manage variations.
• Serve as Principal Designer under CDM Regulations where required.
• Prepare Party Wall Notices, Awards and Schedules of Condition and act as Building Owner’s, Adjoining Owner’s or Agreed Surveyor.
• Undertake reinstatement cost assessments and residential valuations (desirable).

Required profile

• MRICS Chartered Surveyor status.
• Proven experience delivering residential building surveys.
• Strong knowledge of residential construction and common defects.
• Experience producing RICS Level 2 and Level 3 Home Surveys.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Full UK driving licence.

What we offer

• £50,000 basic salary.
• Uncapped discretionary bonus with realistic OTE up to £90,000.
• Monday‑to‑Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm working hours.
• Hybrid working opportunity.
