Chartered Structural Engineer

About the role

We are a growing multidisciplinary surveying, engineering and building consultancy seeking an experienced Chartered Structural Engineer to join our Manchester team. The role offers a leading position within a forward‑thinking business delivering structural engineering services across the UK.

Key responsibilities

• Lead structural engineering projects from initial inspection through to completion.
• Produce structural designs, calculations, specifications and technical reports.
• Conduct site inspections and provide clear professional advice.
• Manage project programmes, budgets and client expectations.
• Ensure compliance with Building Regulations, British Standards and Eurocodes.
• Collaborate with surveyors, building consultants and other technical specialists.
• Mentor junior engineers and support their professional development.
• Build strong relationships with clients, contractors and external stakeholders.
• Support business development and identify growth opportunities.
• Travel to project sites throughout the UK as required.

Required profile

• Chartered status with the Institution of Structural Engineers or an equivalent recognised professional body.
• Degree in structural engineering, civil engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Strong experience in structural design, analysis, inspections and project delivery.
• Knowledge of masonry, steel, concrete and timber structures.
• Experience using recognised structural engineering design and analysis software.
• Understanding of current technical standards and construction regulations.
• Proven experience leading projects and managing client relationships.
• Ability to mentor junior staff and review technical work.
• Full UK driving licence and flexibility to attend sites nationally.
