About the role
We are seeking an experienced Chef to join a public‑sector client in Edinburgh on a temporary basis. The role involves preparing nutritious meals for children and adults, managing kitchen operations, and ensuring compliance with food safety standards.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and cook fresh, nutritious evening meals daily.
- Prepare advance meals for weekend service.
- Order food supplies and manage stock levels.
- Complete temperature checks and maintain food safety records.
- Carry out daily kitchen hygiene and compliance checks.
- Maintain a clean, organised kitchen ready for each service.
- Cater for a range of dietary, cultural, and religious requirements.
Required profile
- Previous experience working as a Cook or Chef.
- Reliable, organised and able to work independently.
- Good understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safety.
- Confident in managing stock and placing food orders.
- Experience catering for a variety of dietary needs (desirable).
- Willingness to obtain a PVG certificate for working with children.

What we offer
- £13.95 per hour.
- 6‑month fixed‑term contract with possibility of permanent placement.
- Monday‑to‑Friday, 36 hours per week.
