Chemical Engineer – Process Development (Full‑time)

About the role

We are seeking a Chemical Engineer to join a specialist manufacturing business in Chester, focusing on the development and scale‑up of innovative fluorination processes. The role involves taking projects from laboratory and pilot stages through to full industrial production, with regular travel to Europe to support a new manufacturing facility.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and improve fluorination processes from laboratory to production scale.
• Plan and execute process trials and experimental work.
• Support design, commissioning and optimisation of new manufacturing processes.
• Collaborate with engineering, production and project teams across the UK and Europe.
• Identify process improvements and troubleshoot technical issues.
• Participate in process safety activities, including HAZOP studies and risk assessments.
• Produce technical documentation and ensure engineering best practice.
• Travel to Europe on a monthly basis to support scale‑up activities.

Required profile

• Degree or PhD in Chemical Engineering.
• Industrial experience in chemical manufacturing, speciality chemicals or related process environments (preferred).
• Experience in process development, optimisation or scaling up manufacturing processes.
• Strong understanding of process safety principles.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel overseas monthly.
