Chemistry Teacher – Full-time Maternity Cover (Sept 2026)

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Chemistry Teacher to join a large comprehensive secondary school in Greenwich on a full‑time maternity cover contract starting 1 September 2026. The role involves teaching General Science and Chemistry across Key Stages 3 and 4, as well as contributing to the BTEC Applied Science programme.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging Chemistry and General Science lessons for KS3‑KS4 pupils.
• Prepare and mark assessments, ensuring high‑quality teaching standards.
• Support the BTEC Applied Science curriculum.
• Act as a Form Tutor, providing pastoral care and administrative support.
• Utilise the school’s modern laboratories and ICT resources to enhance learning.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a Science specialism in Chemistry.
• Proactive, engaging teaching approach with a clear understanding of high‑quality instruction.
• Ability to use ICT effectively in the classroom.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and administration skills.

Required skills

• ICT proficiency (use of computers, data‑logging equipment, and wireless laptops).
