Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer (CAIO) – Executive Leadership

About the role

The Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer (CAIO) will lead the AI strategy for a professional services organisation, driving both internal transformation and client‑facing AI initiatives. Reporting to the executive board, the CAIO will shape governance, compliance with the EU AI Act, and the overall AI vision across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the AI roadmap, aligning technology with commercial objectives.
• Oversee AI governance, ethics, and compliance, particularly with the EU AI Act.
• Manage cross‑functional AI projects covering supply chain, product lifecycle, data analytics and AI‑driven customer experience.
• Lead internal change management and client‑side integration, delivering work breakdown structures and BPR initiatives.
• Evaluate build‑vs‑buy options, investment cases and integration complexity for AI solutions.
• Control AI budget, capacity planning and talent development.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience (CIO, CDO, CTO, CISO, COO or similar) in digital transformation.
• Strong commercial acumen with a track record of delivering AI‑enabled business outcomes.
• Experience in regulated environments and familiarity with AI governance frameworks.
• Background in sectors such as management consulting, manufacturing, B2C, or public agencies.
