Chief Finance Officer (Part‑time) – North East

About the role

We are seeking a top‑quality Chief Financial Officer / Finance Director to provide part‑time CFO services to ambitious private businesses (£2‑50M) across the North East. The role is self‑employed, offering autonomy while being supported by The CFO Centre’s global network.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver strategic financial guidance and CFO services to a portfolio of mid‑size private companies.
• Support business owners with growth, acquisition, consolidation and lifestyle‑focused financial planning.
• Build and expand your own client portfolio, driving value and long‑term relationships.
• Collaborate with the Regional Director and a collegiate team of CFOs/FDs to share best practices.
• Act as a trusted advisor, strategist and friend to CEOs, MDs and entrepreneurs.

Required profile

• Qualified chartered accountant from a UK chartered accounting institute (ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, etc.).
• Proven experience as a CFO or Finance Director in commercial environments.
• Strong commercial finance and business‑strategy expertise with a track record of success.
• Exceptional ability to build genuine, long‑lasting client relationships.
